The song "Just the
way you are" by Bruno Mars, is all about him expressing him loving a girl
for who she is. In it he says:
When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
'Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
Emerson
says the same type of thing in his piece "Self Reliance". He says
that he "must be himself" and "If you can love me for what I am,
we shall be the happier." The common theme between Emerson and Mars is
that they want their love to be true love, where they don't have to change who
they are for someone. This relates to transcendentalism in the thought that
they shouldn't have to change for love, or for the world, and if they are able
to do that they will be happier.
